Наша февральская встреча в Разговорном Английском клубе была посвящена музыке, а именно истории, развитию и влиянию различных жанров на музыкальные течения и молодежь во всем мире. В письменной и устной частях ОГЭ и ЕГЭ по английскому языку мы часто встречаем вопросы о музыкальных предпочтениях. Согласно методическим рекомендациям, вариант «Я не знаю» не буден засчитан, экзаменуемый должен своими ответами показать, что он интересная и разносторонне развитая личность. Федор в очередной раз расширил наши границы, в этот раз не географические, а музыкальные.

Our February meeting started with the questions: What rock and pop music bands do you know? Are you ready to write them on the board? Some brave members raised their hands. In a few minutes, there was no free space on the board. It turned out that our participants were either musical experts or they had prepared for the session properly. Speaking about music without listening to it? Certainly, not!

Then Foydor asked us to divide into two groups = “bands” and think of our names. Thus, “Fab Three” and “Nice Kittens” opened their doors in the music industry. Both teams were offered a really complicated task: to put the photos of different bands and singers in chronological order, identify their genre and peculiarities. To tell the truth, we were about to fail. As for the beginning: Elvis Presley, The Beatles... it was OK, but then... Luckily, our host saved the situation, giving a lecture about some unknown for us but very popular and admired celebrities.

We listened to music a lot, watched video clips, discussed various questions and did a lot of tricky tasks. That Saturday was a kind of flashback to the past, to our memories… Without doubt, it was a great chance not only to check our knowledge in this sphere but to find out some new interesting facts and curious details about the simply cosmically limitless world of music.
